I never set out to be a "blogger" or to have a public presence on the Web. I never sought anything much beyond anonymity. I started writing modestly – an Internet newsletter, other articles, a Blog, scattered speaking engagements in the U.S., etc. – but we started to develop a following.Then, apparently, a few weeks ago, some avid fans decided it was time to put my name forward in the current round of elections in the U.S., without asking my authorization. And it has, to be frank, gotten way out of hand. I knew I was in trouble last week when U.S. Secret Service protection arrived at out little house in Tiquipaya. My code name is apparently, "Big Foot". And you should try to see these guys try to blend in. Yesterday at the Sunday market the agents were wearing tire-soled sandals with their black suits. It was, to be honest, pathetic.

Democratic practices should not be confused with the outlandish clothes worn by politicians and rulers who perhaps trying to offer a popular image and, therefore, democratic, are taking pains lately – some of them – over the use of verbal attacks and a deplorable physical appearance against what has been the traditional way of dressing. Speaking, of course, with exaggeration, someone can be a great democrat wearing tails and an enemy of democracy wearing a sports shirt and faded and torn pants.
It is unfortunate that many people, perhaps more than imaginable, confuse democracy with demagoguery. And by seeing politics in this light, they turn it into something that it should not be and also into something substantially detrimental. It is no slightly detrimental, but seriously so. This situation is not only being seen in the field of the norms set by good customs, which are being violated, but also, between governments, in matters of protocol.
Regarding the previous paragraph, for example, no valid reasons have been given, but the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, received the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Latin America, Thomas Shannon, at 5 a.m. in La Paz. The Secretary came accompanied by the American Ambassador in Bolivia, and the Bolivian president was accompanied by his Foreign Relations Minister. Unless some information to the contrary is given, it seems that the time was intentionally set. This reminds us of what fifty years ago Fidel Castro did several times in Havana to U.S. Ambassador Philip Bonsal, whom he kept waiting for hours in an anteroom and finally saw him late at night. There is a very suspicious similitude, to say the least.
It is clear that Evo Morales, with the backing of millions of petrodollars from Venezuelan Hugo Chávez, feels sufficiently protected as to incur in an insolence such as this one, unless it is proven that it was no insolence but the result of a reasonable agreement because of special circumstances.

What can you say? They've learned well from Evo's violent civil disobendience methods. I remmember back in the day a hunger strike used to be a big deal and roadblocks were never even heard off (except for the Tupac Katari and the Alasitas), but ever since Evo came onto the scene, deathly violence has become the norm.
Of course I don't agree with UJC and I think they, like the ponchos rojos, are a rouge forces that are used like pawns by both sides to further divide the country. However, Evo is ithe last person that should complain about violence because throughout his political career, violence and death have been his trademark. As they say, you sow what you seed...and if there is such thing as karma, Evo has some really ugly surprises in his future.

Well, pretty much as expected (and predicted), Morales is spending the days leading up to the Revocatorio handing out Chavez-checks, cutting ribbons, kissing babies, and coming to Santa Cruz to try to turn the people against the first democratically elected prefect. And of course, blame any trouble on the gringos. Where is all this compelling evidence he was presenting to Secretary Shannon anyway? I'd like to see it.
I too am waiting for the "evidence" from Cuchi Cuchi woshipper and his band of monolito lover about supposed US "conspiracies." Most likely they'll only provide "the e-mail said such and such" or "the letter said such and such," never mentioning names, dates, or how such information was obtained, because they have nothing.
By the way, one could sense a mile away the contrast in dignity, diplomacy, intelligence, and height between Morales and Shannon. One of Morales' main objectives is to severe all ties with the US, but in a way portraying that the US started it. Hence his constant insults, provocations, and paranoia against Americans.

So, ATPDEA will most likely pass, and the US -- despite Morales' internal objections -- will continue cooperating in its fight against poverty and drugs in Bolivia. He must realizes the US has more friends in Bolivia than he thinks.

On the other side, a few weeks ago, a group of bolivian army officers closely linked to Evo Morales were captured minutes after they attempted to commit a terrorist attack against a TV station in Yacuiba. Nava, one of the involved officers had recently returned from an antiterrorism "training" in Venezuela. The vehicles they used in their operation had been rented by the venezuelan embassy in La Paz as it has been proven beyond any doubt by the ongoing investigations.
These are acts which pose a huge threat against the imperfect bolivian democracy. The Democracy Center should have investigated the matter. You still have time to do it and provide your readers a view on this potential proven activity of state sponsrod terrorism.

There is no proof that the Venezuelan government rented said cars. The cars were rented by the guy caught. It is just that one or more of the cars rented CLAIMED-by simply writing it down-that the Venezuelan embassy was the party. NOBODY from Venezuela's embassy was present or signed for anything. It appears they were written down on the receipt as the fall guy. This appears to be of a "setup" or "psyops false-flag operation" designed to scapegoat Venezuela's and Morales' governments.

COMO LA CIA CONTROLA TODO EL PODER EN LA ARGENTINA
Las líneas matrices de un poder que nadie nombra pero cuyas redes invisibles están presentes en todos los niveles de decisión de los procesos económicos, políticos, militares, sindicales y mediáticos de la Argentina.

1) La misión estratégica
Si bien las mayorías (por la complicidad del poder mediático para ocultarla) ignoran la existencia y la función de la embajada de EEUU en la Argentina, la representació n diplomática actúa como polea de transmisión de las decisiones estratégicas del Imperio en todas las esferas del poder local (económico, político, militar y sindical).
Hay tres misiones centrales que cumple la embajada norteamericana en la Argentina: 1) Velar por los intereses estratégicos (políticos y militares) de EEUU en la Argentina, 2) Velar por los intereses económicos de los bancos y trasnacionales estadounidenses en la Argentina, y 3) Preservar al país de sucesos que generen "desorden y caos" (económicos, políticos, sociales) que puedan alterar la "gobernabilidad institucional" .
En resumen, la tarea concreta del embajador norteamericano en la Argentina consiste en: Hacer lobby empresarial para sus transnacionales en la Argentina, controlar (con la CIA local) cada paso de las corporaciones del poder local (empezando por el Gobierno de turno y las FFAA), y controlar y/o neutralizar los procesos políticos y sociales que puedan alterar la marcha normal del sistema capitalista en la Argentina (huelgas salvajes, estallidos sociales, cortes de ruta, etc).
En el actual esquema de gobernabilidad con el "sistema democrático", el Departamento de Estado norteamericano y su representació n diplomática ya no utilizan (como en la década del 70) el poder militar local como elemento de control, sino que se valen de tareas de inteligencia y de operaciones mediáticas para influir en las decisiones del poder local.
Para conseguir sus objetivos estratégicos, la "Embajada" cuenta con una columna vertebral: Las cámaras empresariales (el poder económico), y los medios de comunicación (el poder mediático).
Con las cámaras empresariales (la corporación de poder capitalista) , presiona y controla al gobierno de turno, y con los medios de comunicación (la corporación de poder comunicacional) , direcciona la conducta masiva y presiona al gobierno de turno hacia el objetivo buscado.
2) El sistema de
control, con captura y manipulación de información sobre el poder local.
La "Embajada", a través de la CIA, dispone de una red interactiva de captura de información en todas las áreas de decisión de poder (gobierno, ministerios, gobernaciones, intendencias, cámaras empresariales, gremios, etc), que le permite tener una base de datos actualizada sobre "quién es quién" y las políticas de cada área del poder, además de las luchas internas de grupos por el poder.
Esto quiere decir, que sin la necesidad de escuchar conversaciones ni de poner cámaras ocultas (aunque también lo hace), la CIA local cuenta con información actualizada al minuto de la actividad pública y privada de cada funcionario, empresario, sindicalista o político que maneja niveles de decisiones en el poder, el gobierno en primer término.
La "Embajada" (a través de la CIA y su entrelazamiento con la SIDE y los servicios locales) sabe antes que nadie a que hora la presidenta Cristina tiene sesión con su psicoterapeuta, cuales son sus gustos de ropa íntima, sus "deslices" y "debilidades" etc.
Esa es la razón principal por la cual la "Embajada" es el "poder invisible" que todos temen y nadie nombra.
Y esa es la razón principal por la cual el poder local (empezando por el gobierno de turno) averigua para qué lado soplan los vientos de la representació n antes de dar un sólo paso.
Un error en la lectura de las "señales", le puede costar la destitución, un proceso judicial por "corrupción", la cárcel o una muerte "extraña".
"Con la Embajada' no se jode" : Primer axioma de los que quieren conservarse "saludables" en el poder, empezando por el presidente de turno.
3) Las operaciones encubiertas, el segundo eslabón de control
Manejando información procesada de las corporaciones de poder (empezando por el gobierno) la embajada norteamericana opera constantemente para direccionar los procesos de acuerdo con sus intereses y objetivos a través de empresas pantallas, instituciones culturales, económicas, políticas, etc (por ejemplo las ONG), y agentes vernáculos infiltrados en los distintos ámbitos.
En las fuerzas armadas, los servicios de inteligencia y la policía locales, la CIA y el Comando Sur (subordinados a la "Embajada") mantienen delegaciones y concertan operaciones conjuntas en el marco de la "guerra contraterrorista" y el combate contra el narcotráfico.
Para conseguir sus objetivos, la "Embajada" (por vía de la estructura invisible montada por la CIA) no trasmite órdenes sino "señales" y "evaluaciones".
El embajador de EEUU, Earl Anthony, en "visita" oficial al ministro de Economía, Carlos Fernández, durante el conflicto con el campo.
Por ejemplo: Si quiere que el gobierno se entere de lo que EEUU piensa sobre el paro agrario, se contacta con algún directivo de las cámaras empresariales (industriales, bancarias, agroindustriales, etc) que luego se lo trasmite a los funcionarios de alto nivel del gobierno como "evaluación propia".
Si quiere direccionar opinión pública en contra o a favor (o mandar un mensaje público al gobierno) recurre a los "columnistas estrellas" de los grandes consorcios mediáticos que habitualmente se reúnen en "charlas de evaluación" con las primeras líneas de la de la delegación norteamericana.
Generalmente, cuando los expertos que manejan información estratégica actualizada del poder en la Argentina quieren saber puntualmente que piensa la "Embajada" en tal o cual tema, no tienen nada más que leer a columnistas o analistas relevantes en Clarín, La Nación, Ámbito Financiero, etc.
Es lo que hacen los funcionarios más inteligentes del gobierno, y, en general, todos los que quieren supervivir en el poder.
No obstante ser lo que más temen, los funcionarios, políticos y sindicalistas jamás hablan en público de la embajada norteamericana, y menos aún de las redes de control que tiende la CIA que incluye desde seguimiento de sus vidas íntimas hasta "monitoreos constantes" de sus negocios en negro en la estructura de la corrupción.
Mientras no se salgan de los parámetros establecidos para la "gobernabilidad" del sistema capitalista en la Argentina, la CIA y sus brazos ejecutores locales invisibles solo se limitarán a tenerlos "bajo control".
Si se salen de madre, si "sacan los pies del plato" como, por ejemplo, lo están haciendo los Kirchner desde el Gobierno, la CIA y la Embajada comienzan a desarrollar una operación orientada al "restablecimiento de la gobernabilidad" .
En ese escenario, los que quieren suceder a los Kirchner en la gerencia del poder capitalista en la Argentina ya andan con la vista en las "señales" que envía la embajada norteamericana desde la estructura invisible controlada por la CIA.

Besides, Spain and Brasil have far more interests at play in Argentina than the US and I would expect their respective embassies and intelligence operations to be more relevant than the US and its WMD hunter-gatherers. The US intelligence apparatus is not nearly as efficient as lefty conspiracy types think. They are actually more lucky than good. Even Jim can point them out at the local ex-pat pub.
